MARKED BY SHYNESS OR LACK OF SOCIAL GRACES

In Fall 2016, Vancouver dance artists Felicia Lau, Erika Mitsuhashi, and Mahaila Patterson-O’Brien formed the collective, Farouche. The collective’s artistic practice is focused towards collaborative creation and addressing individual voices within a collective setting. Their choreographic interests consist of improvisation, devising structured movement scores, thinking bodies, formal clarity, and visual design.

In their time together, Farouche has self-produced their debut show at the Gold Saucer (2016), participated in the Simon Fraser University’s SCA Alumni Dance Lab (2017), were artists and residence at the Anvil Centre (2017), facilitated a workshop with the first year students of the SFU Dance program (2017), and premiered their first full length work, We Talk Disco One Day, at the Gold Saucer (2018).
